LG's Optimus 2X: World first and fastest dual-core Android smartphone

This past week electronics giant LG unveiled the 'Optimus 2X' the world's first smartphone  with a dual core processor. With the launch of this phone LG wants to take the smart phone industry to the next level by utilizing newer and more energy efficient dual core processor family of chips.The processor used in the phone is the latest 1Ghz Dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2. 

The new processor takes the user experience to a new level by offering faster web browsing, smoother game play and video playback and lesser application load time.The LG Optimus 2X offers 1080p HD video playback and recording.The Optimus 2X is packed with new features like HDMI mirroring which expands and plays HD content on HDTV or projector. Another new feature is DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) which connects the phone wirelessly with compatible digital device such as HDTVs for a full blown console-like gaming experience taking full advantage of the phone’s HDMI.
The smart phone features 8MP rear and 1.3MP front facing cameras.It has a 4inch Display. The devices comes with 8GB of onboard memory and also has a microSD card expansion slot. The Smartphone features a micro-USB port, Bluetooth and A-GPS location-based services.

The LG Optimus 2X will be first available in Korea next month and will later ship to countries in Europe and Asia. The phone will be initially released with Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS and will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The upgrade schedule will be announced in local markets in due course.


As far as price is concern it will be on the higher side of market. The price LG's Optimus 2X is expected to be over $700.
