Casio's new PRIZM (fx-CG10) graphing calculator

The world is moving forward very fast with technology we find big manufacturers and companies releasing new ground breaking products now and then.
Almost every tech professional in this world might have used a Casio scientific calculator at some point in his life and yes calculation have their limitations but that's about to change. This past week Casio unveiled a new calculator the "PRIZM (fx-CG10)" the worlds first calculator to feature Picture Plot function that enables users to plot graphs over curves and other familiar shapes in real life, such as the parabola of jets from a water fountain etc.

This hi tech calculator features a 65,536 colors  LCD TFT screen which delivers full text book style display.
Well there are other graphing calculator but this one offers a lot more. In conventional graphing calculator students has to input equations to create a visual graph, but in Prizm students can create their own graphs over pictures from real life scenes, this takes understanding and learning math to a whole new level.

Some Key features and specs
  • High resolution LCD screen (Blanview LCD Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT) with full text book display and delivers superior quality visibilty with low power consumption.
  •  Slim design for ease of use
  • Runs on 3-AAA alkaline batteries for approx. 140hrs
  • USB Port Complies with USB 2.0 standards
  • Picture plot feature enables users to create graphs on real life pictures and comes loaded with 55 types of color picture.Users can also perform regression calculations from the completed graphs to enhance their understanding of math functions.
  • Colors can be added to graphing objects PRIZM automatically color codes brackets when entering equations with multiple brackets, as a visual aid to facilitate the entry of complex equations.
  • Plus you can connect PRIZM  to Casio's Green Slim Projectors to factiltate students and teachers to share calculations to a group of people.
  • Dimensions - 0.81” x 3.52” x 7.42”   Weight - 0.51 lb. (including alkaline batteries)
Casio PRIZM will be available in January 2011  for an estimated price of $129.99. Its surely a wrong time to release considering the fact that academic year have already begun and the students who already bought a new graphing calculator will be at a loss.
Why this hi tech calculator some might say, why not just build an app for doing all these calculations on a smart phone, its will be really good for professionals and there are such kind of apps already available.
But this is specially designed for educational use you cant allow students to bring an iPhone in their tests.
