Photography is an art, it requires a lot of training and experience to acquire the skill. No matter how ever high end camera you use, unless you know the right way and have the skills you cant get that perfect professional looking photograph. But now algorithms and number crunching can make your photograph look PRO.
The new software has been developed by Professors Daniel Cohen-Or and Lior Wolf at the University of Tel-Aviv , Israel with the help of colleagues at the Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. At first an algorithms gives a score to a photograph based on aesthetics using simple composition rules widely used to teach budding photographers. The image is then automatically cropped, or parts of it moved and resized, to boost its score.
The software analysis the key features of an image such as color shape of objects etc. The position of those elements are used to judge a photograph. The software then tweaks it to make the photograph look aesthetic and more pleasing to the eye.
Details of the software and paper on Cohen-Or's work will be presented at the Eurographics 2010 conference in Norrköping, Sweden, in May. We would probably see such a features in lots of photo editing software a couple of years down the line as standard.
